so yesterday,
in the second grade that i subbed in,
i was teaching them about the flag.
we talked about the stars:how there's 50 now, because the U.S. has 50 states,
and
how the first flag had only 13 stars,
because in the beginning of America, there were only 13 states.

the funny part came
when I posed the question:

"What do you think the 13 red and white stripes symbolize?"

"The blood of Jesus Christ?"
